Press Release for Tromapalooza III!
7/7/2005
World famous Troma Studios invades Middle Tennessee
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - October 7th 2005
Troma studios and their president Lloyd Kaufman (http://www.troma.com) creators of such cinematic treasures as The Toxic Avenger (I, II, III, and IV), Sgt. Kabukiman NYPD, The Class of Nuke Em High, and Tromeo and Juliet bring their tromariffic side show to Murfreesboro, Tennessee on Friday October 7th at The Boro Bar and Grill (1211 Greenland Drive Murfreesboro TN) for a special one night only music and film festival extravaganza!
Every year Troma helps organizes a series of independent film festivals around the world known as Tromadance (http://www.tromadance.com), the biggest being the Tromadance held each February in Park City Utah during the same week as The Sundance Film Festival. What sets Tromadance apart from all other film festivals is that Tromadance does NOT charge the filmmakers to submit their film for consideration. Troma understands (all too well) that many filmmakers have expended every ounce of energy, blood, and money they have by the time their film is completed. That often doesn’t leave much to fund the “pay to play” system most Film festivals use. Needless to say, this means that each year Tromadance has to find outside sponsors for funds to rent the venues, do the promotions, etc… Three years ago a group of Tennessee Troma fans decided to start a fan based sponsorship of Tromadance. The result is Murfreesboro’s own TROMAPALOOZA FESTIVAL. Each year in October bands from around the country converge on the small hamlet of Murfreesboro Tennessee for one of the most diverse musical events to be found anywhere.
Tromapalooza III will include bands like Atomic Blonde, Trauma Team, Doctor Gonzo, Butcherpriest, Fall With Me, Skullkin, The Hellbillies, and Some Awful Bridge. Troma founder and creator of the Toxic Avenger Lloyd Kaufman will make an appearance, along with Toxie himself, a bevy of beautiful Tromettes, door prizes, contests and Tromapalooza’s own variation of the wet t-shirt contest, the “bloody t-shirt” contest.
